For anybody that wants absolutely amazing quality food in a beautiful pub in a great location in Donneybrook, this is the place to go. Steak is just unbelievable. Actually probably the best I have ever tasted. Quality of thr meat and then how its cooked is unreal. And the crazy part is that its reasonably priced � cant recomend it enough �
I was here for a lovely zomato event and was luckily allowed to order whatever I liked off the new menu! To start I had the pork Bon bons- think a pulled pork croquette- sensational! For my main I had the rolled lamb belly which was really tasty, and as a lamb lover it didn't disappoint! I also sampled the sausages which were bursting with flavour and the homemade chips were also a people pleaser. But one of the group ordered the steak and our jaws dropped when it came to the table. It was absolutely huge and looked amazing! It would have been far too big for me as a part of a three course meal, but if you're starving- go for it!
To finish I had the chocolate cheesecake- there were only 3 portions left by the time we ordered and I can see why as it was heaven! Served in a little glass it was so chocolatey with crushed Oreos on the top! I will

I went to my first Zomato meet up recently in Arthur Maynes in Donnybrook and what a delightful experience it was! We were welcomed with the choice of a tasting of cocktails or craft beers. I chose to have the flight of mini cocktails which were robust and stylish. The barman David talked us through each cocktail with great knowledge and his passion for his profession shone through.

An unexpected dining experience in a cosy little pub based in Donnybrook. I think it was the perfect place for my first Zomato meet up. We were greeted with a trio of mini cocktails (which were delicious) hats off to the barman. 😉
Then, we sat down to eat in a private little snug at the back of the bar. A little too snug perhaps but we made it work. For starters I had the prawns which were delicious. Then, I chose to go with the stout sausages for mains which are made on site! Both the sausages and the mash they were nestled on were packed full of flavour.
My dessert stole the show for me. The cheesecake of the week! Chocolate cheesecake on steroids. Delicious!
Our waiter Peter was a Kerry dream 😋and really made the experience. Overall, a lovely experience with great drinks, food, atmosphere and company. I'll be back!!

Expect the unexpected! Behind what seems to be an apothecary and perfume bottles galore it lays a cozy trendy pub with high quality food!
This was my first Zomato Meetup and I must say it was great in all the ways it could be. Great people, great fun, great food, great drinks and great service.
First, the pub/bar experience:
- Flight of beers: they kind of have their own brewery with seven different kinds of beers on tap: from the IPA to the wheat beer all are great quality. Really enjoyed the red ale and the wheat beer in particular.
- Flight of cocktails: it tastes as amazing as it looks! You have some more sweet, some more citric...for all tastes! All amazing...
A great mention to the bar service which was amazing. Great knowledge over what they were serving and doing. Top quality bartender abilities!
Then, the dining experience:
- Amuse-bouche: a board with 3 small canapes. Nothing great, but good! I liked in particular the one with anchovies.
- Starters: I had the Pork bon-bon which was absolutely delicious. Crispy on the outside and full of delicious well seasoned moist pork. Definitely a winner. Had the chance to try the chicken liver & mushroom pate which was good but lacked some seasoning that would put it in other level. some people also ordered the pan fried prawns and they all seemed quite happy with their choice :)
- Mains: I got the catch of the day and I must say that it must have been a great day! The dish was quite complex and played with different textures and colours. The tenderness and moist of the mackerel and the amazing monkfish that was succulent and dense. Also had the chance to taste the rolled lamb belly which was also pretty tasty for me and had a great mash! I saw people happy with one of the house specialties as well: the sausages!
-Deserts: I got the bread and butter pudding and it was the best I have ever had! So, no better compliment than this one! Great flavour, moist and with an oreo crumble on top which gave it texture. Just perfect! Others had the Irish rhubarb crumble and it was quite good as well, but couldn't compete with the comforting bread and butter pudding :)
Again, the service was top quality. This guys really know what they are doing and I really appreciated that!
Just to finalize a word to the Zomato team that had the work to put this amazing night together. It was a great evening and a chance to know better and discuss with other foodies :)

My first Zomato Meetup on a great location and it was awesome!
I have to thanks Zomato for inviting me to this meetup: great people, great location, great food, good drinks, what else can you ask for?
Let's start with beginning: a flight of beers and a flight of cocktails! Both really great, nice house tap beer and great mixology skills on those cocktails!
The starter: I got the the chicken liver pate, pretty well presented with good flavors and nice toasts. I would had just a little bit more seasoning to get that little extra to make it great! Everyone on the table seemed to enjoy their starter and I had the chance to try the pork, and it was perfect, great flavor and the texture just hit the spot!
The mains: I got the lamb, good flavor, a little bit dry and really great mash! Tasted the fish, mackerel and monkfish were the catch of day and it was perfect! Well seasoned and balanced and succulent, really good job on the fish! People on the table were saying great things about the sausages as well!
Finally the desert: bread and butter pudding, a little piece of heaven! It was so comforting and delicious and the Oreo crumble just added that little extra to make it a winner! Just superb!
Great evening with some great foodies and a really great place! Very cozy, warm and with a fantastic service from the moment you enter the door until you leave! Will definitely come back!

What can I say. This place has come a long way - from somewhere you wouldn't dare enter, to somewhere you would deliberately come to.
An extensive cocktail menu, backed up by experts, this is a place where the lads behind the bar know the difference between a Havana 7yr and a Jame 12yr.. Just as they would an IPA and a stout. The zomato meet up were gathered in a cosy snug (even if my chair was a tad too close to the step) which was a great private dining/area space. Peter, our man from Kerry, was on the ball and served us canapé bites before ordering- any of which I'd be glad to demolish at an event.
To start, I had prawns pil pil which were so fresh and inevitably drowned in butter on the pan. The accompanying salsa verde was so fresh. Others were equally satisfied with the pork bonbons (unreal), pate and rosti (served with a perfect roasted parsnip).
For mains, I had the catch which was a delightful medley of fish, none of whom died in vain. Beautiful. Just beautiful. The others were happy out with lamb belly and the house speciality of sausages but the blow out was the 20oz TBone Mark demolised. #respect
All good meals must come to an end. But ours ended so nommily (if that's a word). The bread and butter pud was like what your mammy would give you when your boyfriend/friend screwed you over. A giant hug in a bowl. The cheesecake was insane and the rhubarb crumble was definitely healthy.... Loved the serving vessels.
All in all a fabulous place with admittedly surprisingly stunning food and brilliant staff. Peter was on the ball and knew his Pinot Grigios from his Malbecs. I do feel for Kielys as they simply not up to this standard in food and decor.
Absolutely my kind of place - especially in the colder months! It's so cosy and welcoming, it was a very welcome addition to our lunch options in Donnybrook.
I can only speak of the lunch menu, but I have high praise for it. I really liked the food here, and the lunch deal allowed us a sneaky pint and a bite to eat at great value!
My one con would be how smokey it can get when the fire is lit - but that was just one visit out of many, and I know it can be tricky to maintain.
I can't fault the atmosphere, the friendly staff or the food - it's a great place and I'd return given any chance I could.
I visited Arthur Maynes for lunch recently and was taken aback by how good the experience was. The menu was varied, with a number of appealing options. My steak sandwich was cooked to perfection and complimented by some very good house-brewed beer.
Service was faultless and I will definitely be back. Perfect for anyone working in or around Donnybrook.
Located in the middle of Donnybrook .The exterior and interior are really quirky and the staff are very friendly. There is a wide range of options for food on the menu. I had the steak sandwich which was delicious and would definitely recommend it.

Really enjoyed my first visit to Arthur Maynes in Donnybrook. Quirky comfortable interior, a real fire too so very cosy and a great ambience. Delicious menu including small dishes like mussels, there are platters to share, along with mains like pies, pork belly, ribs, fish, Portuguese chicken...we had mussels & bruschetta to start (mussels were great, bruschetta was ok) and pork belly and a beef pie for mains, both of which were fab! Large portion sizes & reasonable prices. Their own brewed beer and glasses of a Cote du Rhone red with our food. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit & will return!
