One of the best places to eat in Dublin if you like genuine italian food. Their homemade ravioli with truffle, their tender tripe and the flan dessert are amazing.
So tasty, so much fun, great atmosphere, great value, authentic Italian food. Couldn't ask for better. This is my new favourite spot in Dublin :)

Terre Madre Café can be found at 13a Bachelors Walk. You could miss it as it’s in the basement. However if you have an eye for art you’ll most likely spot the large photo of very content looking gent with smiling eyes looking back at you hanging from its surrounding railing. I used to get a bus home from town (Dublin town) a few steps away from Terre Madre Café. It was nearly always open when I stood in the sun, rain and, or snow waiting for a bus to come. Often I would observe their Chef’s coming up the steps that lead to the restaurant, and watch them as they took a ramble or chatted on their phone. Often I wondered what kind of place it was and what kind of food they served. I answered this wonder when I phoned up one day and booked a table for two for an early evening dinner.
One of my favourite places in Dublin - simple, delicious food, done really well. The menus are quite short but that isn't really a problem because choosing among what's there is difficult enough! The owners are the most authentically-Italian Italian people I can imagine, and go out of their way to make you feel at home. They're clearly very enthusiastic and proud of what they're doing, and it shows in the food. Try the wild boar ragout.
Haven't been on Zomato in ages, but I loved Terra Madre so much I had to log back on to review it! It was my friends birthday last week and a group of 12 of us went to Terra Madre on a Monday night. The place was absolutely lovely, it was like being in a someone's house and they were cooking you dinner! The waiter Marco was the best craic and so attentive, he was full of jokes, and showed us a cool trick to get a cork out of a wine bottle. Now I'm usually a person who needs a little 7up to go with my wine, but the white wine we had was so delicious I didn't need any, and the bottles were flowing. I got the rabbit gnocchi which was lovely and filling. I actually can't fault the place, it was such a fun evening, we really felt like we had the run of the place, when we were singing happy birthday to my friend, the other tables joined in.
P.s. I
I had lunch here yesterday for the first time. The decor and table settings are casual in the extreme and it feels like eating in someones kitchen rather than a restaurant but that's what makes the place special. As we sat down one of the staff appeared to show us a new season green tomato which had arrived from Italy a few hours earlier, he promised to bake it off and told us it would be delicious, it was. A simple plate of tomato doesn't sound like the best 'amuse bouche' but it was perfect. After some carpaccio which was flawless we all had the wild boar ragu. The ragu was delicious with a serious depth of flavour. To finish I had a 'chocolate salami' with blood orange. This was presented simply as a couple of slices of chocolate biscuit cake with segments of blood orange, the perfect finish. It really is hard to find fault with this place but I wouldn't recommend it for picky eaters, the menu is small and changes depending on what the chef gets it, bliss for me, but perhaps not for everyone.
I love everything about this place. Staff are characters and very friendly. Decor is simple and looks like the dining room in a small Italian house.
I'd heard amazing things about the truffle pasta in here and it did not disappoint. Simple flavours prepared exceptionally well on top of fresh pasta. Will 100% be going back soon. Ensure you book in advance as seats are at a premium.
It doesn't get much more authentic than Terra Madre, a tiny Italian restaurant on Dublin's Bachelor's Walk.
Small and located in a basement on the quays, the decor is grand, like, but not overly inspiring.
The dish pictured here didn't sound too inspiring, either. Luckily, the taste speaks for itself. It's Lardo di Colonnata, an Italian speciality with pork lard, aged in Tuscan marble vats with salt and herbs. We were talked into it by the owner, and weren't sorry. It's incredibly rich and flavoursome - a must try. The lard absorbs all the oils from the herbs and tastes delicious and delicate.
We've since tried it on top of steak in The Drury Buildings - but to be honest, preferred it simply over toast in Terra Madre. Great stuff.
Lets start off saying I'm from Italy which makes me having very high expectations from any Italian restaurant in general. Well, what I have experienced here is the true, genuine, Italian taste. I felt home. Very few choices in the menu made with incredible and tasty ingredients. I can say, after 3 years in Dublin, my best Italian restaurant in town.
P.S. Try the bruschetta, that's a proper, real, bruschetta.
Went here for a work dinner last Thursday evening. It's a unique little spot, probably the most authentic Italian cuisine in Dublin. The menu is very small, so not suitable for fussy eaters. The bruschetta is not your average tomatoes and basil. Rather they use all sorts of unusual ingredients, for example "caper berry leave"'. The tables are small and the space is tight but this adds to the charm of the restaurant. There's a huge emphasis placed on the quality of produce. The staff are friendly and extremely professional.
It's clear from the outset that the people working her here strong sense of pride in what they're trying to achieve. The wine list is superb and designed to compliment each dish on offer. I Cant advise on the prices, as I was brought here as U a guest.
