Was treated to a lovely meal here last night in lieu of my birthday. First thing you notice is the amount of wine bottles dotted around the restaurant that act as sneaky decorative storage, which certainly nods to the extensive wine list.
Bread bowl was delightful and featured a tomato bread with a kick. For starters, I had crab while Himself had a saddle of rabbit with chicken mousse wrapped in prosciutto. Good start indeed.
For mains, He opted for the duo of goose and I sea bream. Both delicious, full of flavour and evidence of a skilled kitchen.
Dessert came as a bowl of ice creams that were heavenly, and a classy berry food. A sharing cheese plate and coffee wrapped up the evening.
Great hidden gem in the heart of ranelagh
Had Xmas Eve family lunch here and apart from our tiny round table for 5 people which after a few bottles of wine we forgot about - everything was excellent. Great wine list and super advice from Justin who asked what wines we generally liked and gave us some great matches for our meal - the Riesling with the goose starter was an awesome pairing - if only more restaurants had this knowledge. I wasn't mad on the scallop starter in prawn cracker but that's personal opinion and the chocolate dessert wasn't memorable but this is a great restaurant and is one of few filling the gap between casual and totally expensive fine dining. Fair Play guys
Some of the nicest food in Ranelagh accompanied by undoubtedly the best service. Traditional french food with a modern twist. Be sure to try the tuna sashimi and the cote de bouef. Perfect for special occasions, couldn't recommend the food or the service more highly.
