Our jem we found while visiting Ireland. Loved the food and omg the salty caramel chocolate bar, to die for, what a treat!
I visited the Garden Cafe with my Mam and daughter last Wed for lunch. Took a while to wander into cafe as one must go through the garden centre to get there. So lots of looking and discussing plants slowed us down! Gorgeous menu and the goats cheese salad presented was even nicer than I imagined. Coffee was perfect and very hot (which was an extra bonus). The staff are very attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed our experience so much that we reserved a table for y'day (Sat) for brunch after perusing the brunch menu! We were given a choice of tables, which mattered as my son is a wheelchair user.
Brunch y'day was just as fab as last Wed. We'd a lovely time and will be back. Thank you to all. Thank you to Helen who offered to open the side gate, if required, so we could come or go straight from car-cafe-car with the wheelchair.
Hubby was with us y'day and I knew he'd love the garden centre. Plants galore made it into the car boot- just about fit!!
I've heard really great things about the Garden House cafe and was delighted I got to try it out at the weekend. I went for brunch with a couple of friends...We had no trouble getting a table for 7 at 11am - the place is great for groups, the interior is bright and airy and there's plenty of tables. I ordered the brioche french toast with bacon and maple syrup. It was nice but I've had better - I wish there had of been rashers instead of streaky bacon, which I know is a personal preference but there just didn't seem to be enough bacon with this. My friend had an open chicken sandwich which looked amazing which I'd definitely try if I returned. Another friend had the fry which she really enjoyed. Service was super - friendly and efficient and we weren't rushed out after we finished. Nice to visit here and wander through the garden centre after your meal. Would definitely return - I saw a waitress bringing a bowl of chicken wings to a table as I was leaving and they looked really good!
So glad I found this place on here! It's part of the flower centre in a thatched cottage. The high beam ceiling makes it airy and there's lots of seating. Pastries were delicious. We tried the gluten free carrot cake, rich hazel and chocolate tart (small) and huge but light lemon and pistachio cake which was my favourite. Lots of people say it's overpriced and I'd have to agree especially lunch food but the cakes were worth it.
The setting of this cafe is lovely as it is situated in the garden centre in Malahide and the cafe is quite picturesque as it resembles a thatched cottage. The interior is just as pretty as the outside. The selection of cakes on display looked to die for however I ordered the pulled pork bun with chips which was incredibly tasty. With saying that there was only one vegetarian option on the menu and they didn't have it in stock and as my sister is a vegetarian there wasn't much for her to choose from. Nonetheless, we all enjoyed our meal here as everything was very tasty indeed! 😃
I came here with my mom a few weeks ago and chose here over the neighbouring Avocaa (for a change of scenery.) My mom, who tends to prefer the simpler things on the menu went for the soup and bread and I chose the more filling pulled pork brioche bun with chips- it was between that and the chicken sandwich.
I enjoyed it but I must say after tasting the soup I was actually quite disappointed I didn't get that along with a sandwich instead of my option. It was tasty but perhaps not the type of meal served in a cafe. Plus, having been to Pitt Bros I tend to compare every pulled pork burger to them so it's hard to compete.
After our lunch we had some tea and Victoria Sponge to share as the selection as the time wasn't great (almond tart or apple pie.) Must say, I was really disappointed with the cake. Very dry and bland unfortunately.
With that being said, the decor is lovely, the atmosphere is relaxed and the service is decent too.
Love the food here but the service can be very slow. The breakfasts are great. The place itself is lovely and it's nice to just sit outside with one of their delicious coffees and cakes after a stroll around the garden center or malahide castle across the road.
