During our recent visit to Ireland, we stopped in to dine at the Sheedy's Restaurant after visiting the Cliffs of Moher! Even though they were quite busy, and we hadn't reserved in advance, Martina being a very gracious host, still accommodated the five of us. John even took the time out from his busy kitchen to meet and greet with us! The food was fabulous, the service was friendly, top notch all around! Two of us had the lamb as Martina recommended it as John's specialty and I can see why; the other 3 had the steak and we all agreed that this was the best meal we had in our travels in Ireland! I would go one further and say that this was one of the best meals I've ever had and we have dined in many places around the world! My 12 year old grandson even complimented chef John by telling him it was the best steak he has ever had! We are hoping to return to Ireland in the future and definitely we will be dining with the Sheedy's again as well as staying at their lovely Country House Hotel! A Wonderful, Friendly Gourmet experience!
Fantastic. We received a really warm welcome on arrival after a long journey down from county Armagh. We were shown to our room and then the lady sent up a tray with tea and home made biscuits - much appreciated. We decided to have our evening meal in the hotel's bar and it was so delicious. So good we decided to dine in the hotel's restaurant the next night. It was equally wonderful. Highly recommend the pears with cashel blue sauce, duck confit and risotto. The restaurant is Michelin recommended. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. Well located for touring Co Clare.
Lavish guest rooms, a spectacular dining room, and a cozy lounge make this a destination if you're in Clare. Martina is a charming and meticulous hostess, and seemed to effortlessly make our stay here comfortable and memorable. And John, in the kitchen, is no slouch, either: breakfasts are tasty and substantial, and dinners are focused on local ingredients prepared classically and with respect and care - the Burren lamb is not to be missed. The building is on an eminence just a short stroll from lively "downtown" Lisdoonvarna, and a short drive along the Wild Atlantic Way to the Cliffs of Moher or the Burren. I can't wait to visit again.
