So glad we spotted the Spotted Dog! Myself and my fiance wandered in for breakfast - it was absolutely the best we've ever tasted! Cooked fresh to perfection (I love runny eggs, my partner's the opposite) it arrived quickly, piping hot and smelling exceptionally good. We tucked into top quality local produce: the tastiest sausages ever, good thick cut bacon strips, aside perfect golden fried eggs, nicely caramelised vine tomatoes, deliciously crumbly clonakilty black pudding and thickly sliced fresh sourdough toast - not forgetting a very very flavoursome cup mushroom - and not a drop of grease in sight. Even the tea was brewed exactly right. Great attentive service and a bit of banter from the owner himself, lovely simple, unassuming decor that lets the wonderful food speak for itself. Plenty of different and delicious-sounding breakfast, lunch and dinner options, including vegan options that would even tempt us carnivores! Tasty lighter and healthier options aplenty too. Definitely coming back very soon. Top marks!
Myself my husband and our toddler enjoyed an amazing lunch at the spotted dog on Saturday. I had the beetroot and walnut burger. And both toddler and husband had the Dexter burger. The were so good and I just loved the carrot pickle on veggie burger. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. A breath of fresh air in Dundalk. Am a vegetarian and would seriously recommend to all veggie friends. Wonderful selection of dishes with a twist. Keep up the great work all at The Spotted Dog.
Really top place. Relaxed and well run with great service and amazing food. A real must go to place in Dundalk.
I have only been there for lunch so far but can't wait to get back for the evening menu.
