Without a shadow of a doubt the best value dinner in Dublin. €20 for two courses, all night, seven nights a week. I ate there this evening and had the crab to start which was beautifully fresh followed by the salmon special which came on a delicious bed of butternut squash puree. I had serious order envy of a fellow diners prawn main course however, which consisted of 6 king prawns which she described as the best she had eaten in Dublin.
The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. One of our party was celebrating a birthday and not only did they do the usual candle in a cake they also brought a complimentary class of champagne with the dessert.
We booked for a few weeks time on the way out the door, which says it all.
I've been here a couple of times recently for weekend brunch/ lunch...it is a nice spot in the lovely Sandymount, but I find it's expensive for what you get. I had the crayfish salad and the fish was lovely but the only other thing in the salad was a big bowl of rocket leaves so not very exciting. The sandwiches are good and more reasonably priced than the salads.
Had some spare time and was in the area, so popped in to get a take away sandwich and a coffee for an early lunch. I chose a roast chicken, sunblush tomato & mozzarella sandwich, on brown bread, and a large latte. The staff were friendly, courteous & efficient in everything they did. The coffee, which as I write this some 20 minutes later, is still piping hot (a feat in a takeaway cup, is deliciously strong. The sandwich contained a large amount of filling, and an ideal mix of wet & dry ingredients. It was a pleasure to eat.
Pro tip: If the weather agrees, take your food across into the green, find a nice spot, relax & enjoy!
