John and I booked for 2 nights in Legan Castle farmhouse.. we had an amazing two night stay. We could not recommend it highly enough. It's one of the best places we have ever stayed. Caroline is so welcoming and looked after us better than any 5 star hotel would. You have to stay for dinner... amazing she needs to open her own restaurant!!!! I'm Gluten Free, which often means settling for poorer quality food, but not here. Such a chilled out 2 days. We will be back soon �

The BoltHole at Legans s Castle has got to be one of the nicest and most relaxing places to stay in Ireland. Just a short drive from the beautiful city of Kilkenny, you arrive at the peaceful home from home which is the BoltHole, you have your own 2 storey country cottage, a beautiful bedroom with the most comfortable bed and very modern bathroom with a really great power shower, upstairs you have your own cosy sitting room with the piece de resistance a lovely sunny roof garden where you can enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine before dinner. Caroline your host provides so many lovely personal touches from local chocolates, fresh flowers, guide books and magazines. we had dinner the first night cooked by Caroline, can highly recommend this, everything was perfect. Breakfast was lovely, I can particularly recommend Caroline's home made granola, yogurt and fresh fruit compote, also free range eggs provided by her own hens and the most delicious bacon and sausages. A special mention must go to Oscar the dog who gives guests a very warm welcome and whom I fell in love with and of corse Wilde the kitten who completes the family. Caroline has so many plans for this wonderful property, including very luxurious 'glamping' starting very soon, so she will be able to cater for larger parties, I hope to return soon with friends to experience this. thank you again,we had such a wonderful stay, the memories will remain for a long time to come.
Amazing place, a little bit of heaven on earth... totally relaxed after our stay. Caroline is some woman for one woman, an amazing host and cook, food was beautiful. And let’s not forget Oscar, we loved him xx

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for the weekend and we only have one word to describe it...AMAZING. From the minute we arrived we felt so welcomed by Caroline who is most definitely the host with the most. We had an amazingly relaxing time and a good few laughs thrown in to boot. The setting is out of this world. The attention to detail is second to none and the food is downright sensational. I cannot recommend Legan Castle Farmhouse enough as a truly magnificent destination. It has it all, peace and tranquility when we needed it, but with Kilkenny just a few miles away, we really had our cake and ate it too..... I cannot wait to see Caroline again, and Oscar too. What an unbelievably enjoyable stay... ���
My Hubby and I have recently returned from The Bolthole were we celebrated our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The Wonderful setting, Amazing accommodation and Fabulous breakfast. Caroline is the hostess with the mostess,
so thoughtful and generous. We sat under the stars in our roof top garden, sipping our bubbly and gave thanks for each other, the beautiful scenery and the amazing memories we made while staying here. We would highly recommend you stay, and we hope you make your own amazing memories at The Bolthole. We will return.
Such an amazing place to stay! We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the beautiful The Bolthole at Legan Castle. The accommodation itself is stunning, cosy and yet really spacious and the freshly cooked breakfast is a definite bonus! The grounds with the ruins of Legan Castle and the surrounding area are spectacular and there are so many beautiful walks and areas to visit like the Kilfane Waterfall and village of Inistioge. It was just perfect as somewhere to visit to really get away from it all, yet the towns of Thomastown and Kilkenny were so easily accessible too! Thank you The Bolthole at Legan Castle for a truly wonderful holiday, can't wait to visit again and we will definitely be staying longer next time!!!!
Spent two wonderful nights in this little piece of heaven. From our first meeting with Caroline a warm friendly host,our stay was wonderful, beautiful cottage, grounds,decor,fresh flowers, open fire and delicious food. We felt like we were staying with a friend who has a really cool house cute dog Oscar and she cooks for you as well ❤ If you are looking for a break away from life this place is perfect, relaxing luxury ❤❤
Stayed in the beautiful Legan Castle with our kids last summer. What a beautiful place and Caroline is such a wonderful host. Kids loved it and are dying to go back for a weekend glamping.
Fabulous time, really relaxing. Beautiful setting, beautiful rooms, food and such an attentive and welcoming hostess. It's a B&B with a big difference. Couldn't recommend it enough.

We just returned yesterday from a two night stay at the Bolthole at Legan Castle. It was an absolutely beautiful weekend. First of all the location is great - Thomastown is a lovely little town surrounded by beautiful countryside and only fifteen minutes from Kilkenny city. The accommodation itself is stunning. The bedroom is lovely with a ridiculously comfy bed. Upstairs there is the gorgeous loft room complete with stove heating to make it extra cosy. There's also a roof terrace where we spent lots of time enjoying the sunshine. And the grounds are lovely - it's a really nice secluded spot to spend a romantic weekend or just quality time with friends. The best part though was the hospitality. Caroline couldn't have been a better hostess, going above and beyond anything that we would have expected and is just so friendly and welcoming. And the food was incredible. Two delicious breakfasts and dinner was so good on the first night that we changed our plans on the second night! So nice to enjoy a private home cooked meal. And I can't leave out Oscar and Wilde, the lovely dog and cat duo that we fell in love in with! I would recommend for anyone to stay here, I'm already telling all my friends about it. We will definitely be going back ourselves.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here in March 2015. The place is quite simply stunning and so tranquil. The decor, scenery, hostess and food were absolutely flawless. If you desire calm, comfort and pure luxury then a stay at The Bolthole at Legan Castle will deliver on all fronts. I will be treating my parents to a long weekend stay here and definitely returning myself. You really have to experience it if you can.
Omg what a fabulous experience we had in Legancastle last week at the start of our minimoon. We loved Caroline, Oscar and Wilde from the moment we arrived. Caroline was just outstanding from start to finish; five star treatment throughout our stay. We had the most beautiful food with wonderful conversation. The living and sleeping area were extremely comfortable, beautiful and enjoyable which is a testament to Caroline's attention to detail and eye for exceptional interior design. The surrounding grounds are also stunning. It's just beautiful to see the Connemara ponies running around in the fields outside. I cannot wait to see how Legancastle develops in the future. Carolines is so enthusiastic and fun and we cannot wait to come back to see you all soon. �️
My husband and I had such a fantastic weekend staying at the Bolthole....perfect getaway with second to none service!! Caroline's little touches made it all the more special...lavender eye mask, truffles, homemade granola and jams, I could go on and on!!! I foresee many more weekends away here, could not recommend it enough!! Nic & Ryan xx
