Huge thanks to Laura who looked after us yesterday (mon 22nd Jan).
We drove from Mullingar especially to have lunch here because we've been here before and we love the place.
Laura looked after us so well and made us feel so welcome, like we were two of the locals.
I had in mind I was going to order soup and a wrap but I knew this wasn't gonna happen as soon as I saw the menu!
Laura made my mind up for me on what to order. She recommended the steak sandwich (which is something I usually never order) and explained how good it is - and boy was she right.
It was one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten. The bread was so fresh and crispy, steak was so tasty and melt in the mouth, the sauce with the caramelised onion and that cheese! It was delicious.
She knew I was considering ordering soup at first so she asked if I'd like to try the soup also, which I did, and that was a beautiful tasty vegetable soup and the brown bread was lovely also, so fresh and tasty - a meal by itself.
By this stage I was well and truly done..... Until Laura mentioned dessert! I wasnt having any, until she suggested the waffle. It was so light and crispy with vanilla ice cream and a caramel sauce....lovely.
My fiancé ordered the caesar salad which she loved, and the pavlova which she devoured.
All in all it was more than just lunch with the quality of food and by the way we were welcomed and taken care of.
So again, a huge thank you to Laura for that. She made our day. We are still talking about it today. I'd advise any future customers to take her advice .
When we finished our meal we had a browse and made a few purchases in the lovely gift shop adjoined because we were certainly in no hurry to leave.
Every time we've been here it's been very busy but the quality of food and service has been spot on, and that's a credit to the staff, who are obviously very busy for most of the day.
I normally don't leave reviews (good or bad) but somethings just have to be shared.
Great food although they don't serve chips here, would recommend their caeser salad and seafood chowder
Service is swift with friendly staff, a great place for a good cuppa and a bite to eat after a walk around Tara Hill.
Great food and service. Michael, Ewa and the staff are always very friendly. The wraps are really good, so too the desserts and the 'Tara special' - Tea and scones. Lucky to have a cafe like this so nearby. As Tara has a lot of visitors, at times there is a short queue, but the staff are very efficient and get everyone in, even when you think it's not possible.
Where better to go for coffee and catch up after hols than Maguires on Hill of Tara. Great food, welcoming staff and nice little gift shop. Highly recommend this outlet

My husband and I went to Maguire's for lunch to celebrate our Anniversary. We got seated straight away. Decided when we saw menu to have early dinner....he had Guinness beef stew and I had surf and turf salad. They were both delicious. We then decided to spoil ourselves he had Bailey's cheese cake, which he loved and I had best Pavlova I have had in years with light fluffy meringue, right amount of cream and fresh fruit. Staff very friendly and even though they were v busy they still very polite. Two bus loads of tourists arrived as we were leaving. The only downside of our visit was we wanted to walk up Tara Hill but rain came. Prices also reasonable.
The coffee and desserts and ice cream is fab, ended going back for more food and the presentation and taste was amazing. I’d highly recommend this restaurant and gift shop.
The food was outstanding. We popped in after a beautiful day exploring the Hill of Tara and were all so pleasantly surprised with our food. I personally had the special (a mushroom and beef pie) and could not have been happier! Highly recommended!
My favourite place to go for lunch. The only downside is it’s everyone else’s too so usually have to wait for a table, but it’s always worth the wait
Maguires as always was 1st class in service , food , and friendly helpful and very polite staff.Plenty of parking , plenty of seating .Shopping I have bought many Christmas presents there at very good prices .. Fantastic views .Why would one go back again and again to a eatery that's anything less . And I have been back again and again and again . And bring my friends and visitors with me .
Thank You
I brought 4 visitors from Thailand. They thought the Tara experience was great. We had lunch. It was lovely. The ladies wished to eat in their traditional manner, thus sharing 2 dishes between them. Staff were Totally accommodating. Main course was steak and mushroom pie with mash, chicken chili wrap, and deserts.
Absolutely beautiful food the nicest I've had in a long time. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend it 👍
Excellent place to stop for drink and food, we were cycling and welcomed the break.
