The best in Howth. Fun, quirky, amazing seafood and super staff. It's our go to on a family day out. Try the seafood platter, mussels and salmon.
Beautiful spot for sea food, great staff and good service. You must have the chocolate brownie, the best I've ever had and I have had a few. Price very reasonable on food and wine
Called in yesterday for a coffee with my mam.. The lady who greeted us was so friendly and welcoming (without being over the top ), the place was packed and had a fantastic atmosphere ,even still she managed to find us a table ! looking at all the great food,we ended up having lunch . Chowder and mini fish and chips combo really fab ... Will definitely be back
Love to go back to The Brass Monkey every time we go Howth direction! Lovely chowder soup with guiness bread and irish salted butter we tried chowder in many places in Ireland but here is definately the best! Delicious, tasty, my favourite place, my no.1
Made a visit on Saturday 15th July with my Wife, Mother & Son, have to say the food was fantastic.
The freshness of the fish along with the taste & price was excellent.
Highly recommend & will definitely be making another visit.
Had an amazing meal last night with family, could not fault the food - I have never had a burger as nice as theirs. My husband loved the mussels and calamari. Staff are all welcoming and good with young children too. We will definitely be back. Thank you all
Five star seafood. Friendly staff. Great location on the pier in Howth. I can't recommend this restaurant enough!
Great service, food was amazing loads of fish in sea food chowder. Lovely staff worth a visit when out in Howth
The best seafood chowder I have ever had! What a bonus that we stumbled across the place on half price Tuesday!
Very good meal and wonderful wait staff. Hope to return again someday when I travel back to Dublin!
Very nice place with character, good staff and delicious food!
First time I have ever eaten monkfish, it was excellent! A little pricey for three meals, but best food we have during our Irish vacation! We wish we had more time to spend enjoying the ambience.
I have been here a couple of times and always enjoyed the food. The deluxe chowder is delicious. The service is good and quick. Recommended.
I had a Voucher for The Brass Monkey so decided to use it tonight. Having climbed Howth Head the full walk taking two and half hours, I felt that I earned my 3 courses. There are plenty of choices on the menu not as much fish as I would have expected but a varied enough menu.I had the Brass Monkey salad for starters. It is an interesting salad with chorizo, rocket, sun dried tomatoes and a lovely dressing. My partner had the chowder which was creamy and full of fish. Fish pie was my choice for mains, again with lots if fish and a lovely creamy sauce. Himself had the red curry with monkfish and mussels. My dessert was to die for, mixed fruit Eaton Mess, just the right blend of fruit, cream and meringue.
My partner had the apple crumble which he thought was a bit too sweet.
We both agreed that the meal was very nice but considering the location of the restaurant the fish choices were a little disappointing.
The Brass Monkey is a local haunt for my bf and I. Their early bird is fantastic value and their specials always use fresh produce from the local area. I'd recommend trying their trio starters, usually involving 3 types of seafood presented in different ways. With restaurants on the pier it can be tough to choose which to go for, The Brass Monkey is always a good bet!
Was here for lunch on Saturday last and as usual it was not a disappointment. We had the most amazing Beef Brisket Croquettes for a starter, it was a good portion for two, great texture on the beef and lovely little Asian Slaw on the side. Only pitfall it was a special can't wait to see it again. For mains I had the Monkfish Scampi yum I order it everytime. My husband had the daily fish special of monkfish with a salsa of potato, broccoli, mushrooms, sunblush tomato and pine nuts. We were both impressed with the size of the fish, it tasted great as we have come to expect. Love this place.
We had dinner for two plus baby on a rainy Sunday evening - lots of families here and baby changing facilities too so we felt very comfortable. Calamari to start were light and delicious, and husband and I were defeated by creamy chowder and fish pie for mains - neither of us managed to finish. His monkfish scampi were lovely too - fresh and lemony. Bit disappointing that the shellfish comes from cork when Howth pier is right outside! Our dinner for 2 (no drinks) came to €47.
Stopped by here for a bite a lunchtime. Had the monkfish scampi with homemade tartar sauce, salad and chips. My other half went for the veg curry. Both were delicious. Highly recommended
One of my favourite restaurants in Howth by a mile. Regularly pop up for lunch and dinner, every time
Is better than the last. From the incredible staff to the best monkfish scampi this place is a must if your looking for food in Howth
I went here for lunch today with my parents and all three of us opted for the lunch deal which was mini fish and chips with soup for €11. Really enjoyed the meal and the portion was a great size. However the soup was a lil bland but nonetheless great little restaurant for fish lovers and everyone else!
What a lovely little little spot! Went here fir lunch today.. quaint decor but it adds to the charm. Great menu! We had the calamari, prawns pils pils, Crab meat salad and the bruschetta. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Great service and lovely friendly staff. Looking forward to another visit.
Nestled somewhat out of the way among the fishmongers, this is a great little spot. Dropped by with two others to find the whole place was booked in little over an hour, but they were happy to give us a seat. we only ordered mains as we were pushed for time. I chose the special of the day, which was a dish with pan fried cod, with baby potatoes, wild mushrooms and a fantatsic pine nut sauce. the flavours all balanced perfectly and the mushrooms were a fabtastic addition. I'd personally like more of the pine nut sauce/topping but overall it was a fantatsic dish in a very intimate setting. Staff were relaxed and super friendly.
Been here a good food times the food is really good . Started with the deep fried calamari then had the fillet steak and finished with the chocolate brownie !! The staff are very nice which helps too ?
The Brass Monkey is a fantastic wine bar on Howth pier. I don't eat fish but most people love the calamari here. I went for the goats cheese and its yum. Staff are great and always full of locals.
