This franchise (although only 2 I am aware of) is a million times better than the famous franchise that shortened its name. The chips - delish, the chicken - full of flavour with that Signature breadcrummed skin - nom nom nom and then to the gravy - its thick with a lovely pepper flavour and huge portion you get, unlike their US counterpart who's gravy is watered down. They also do chicken Tuesday and Mega meal deals which are manly and meaty. Hillbilly's after any night out is always so so good when you can eat you burger how ever you want and not care about the fella you were snogging 5 mins before seeing the sauce and lettuce all over your mush. Hillbilly's is the underdog and the underdog always wins.
I know, strictly speaking this is a fast food joint which people are not too interested in reading reviews of, BUT this is important, this is special, this is a hidden gem of fast food joints. Well known in certain circles but to the vast majority a diamond in the rough. Offering adaptations of dips like gravy and curry which are simply just names unreflective of the taste of the dips, they are delicious be brave, do it, you'll like it. If the secret blend of herbs and spices are what KFC aspired to be before the days where they served mutant chickens. Very generous portions of some quality chicken and chips, straight in no messing. For fast food hungover or not it's worth the trip, even if it is out of the way. #HiddenGem
Hillbillys is better than KFC! Snack box Tuesday from this place should become a national holiday! I can't say enough nice things about how great this place is! Sure it's unhealthy and won't exactly help you stay fit but my word is the chicken and gravy just absolutely unreal! The only complaint I can have is just that it's always packed with loud annoying school kids especially on the sacred day of snack box Tuesday! X
