Went here today for lunch and it was actually amazing so glad my sister showed it to me, I got the Caesar salad which was actually unreal and so filling. My sister got the French toast which she loved and a kale, spinach, pear and ginger juice which was delicious. Inside there is loads of baked goods as well which all looked great, I brought home three donuts which were fantastic. Overall loved this place, was a great find and will definitely be back. It is great value for what you get
Mount Merrion has really needed a spot like this. Great location across from the parkin the old Kielys. We went for brunch on a Sunday morning and the place was pretty busy. We had a table booked and the service was excellent. From the amount of young families there it must be pretty kid friendly. The place will be even better in the summer months. Try the french toast and you won't be disappointed. Coffee was just right too.
Place is absolutely lovely to eat in and a great and welcomed addition to Mount Merrion. I went on the opening weekend and there was a long wait so made a booking and went back 2 weeks later. I couldnt fault the food at all. I got half a chicken and salad. There was long delays bring with the food to the table, there was 4 of us and the food was brought over 10 minutes. Will definitely return
Having grown up in Mount Merrion this place was Kileys for so many years of my life and when it closed it was sad to see the place lying idol. It's great that something new has come to the area and revived what was once Kileys. The work they did in such a short amount of time is phenomenal. The place is so busy, I went the first weekend of opened and the wait time was 45 min, so i returned and made a brunch booking.
The brunch menu is very breakfast focused, it's quite limited in that aspect but I was in the mood for a salad and got the half chicken salad which was absolutely delicious, it's about 15e and I nearly had to be rolled out of the place, not only do you get a really decent half chicken and salad, it comes with chips also. Everyone at the table tried this and no one was disappointed at all.
It's the perfect place to meet friends or go for a family meal, if you are too full, like me, you can pop into the shop for some fresh baked tasty treats. Kennedys pub next door hasn't changed much from the old Kileys but it's nice to still see it up and running and with extra outdoor seating!
Only downside was the staff weren't the most clued in, but in saying that, they are only open a few weeks.
I look forward to coming back!
Just back from Union Cafe this afternoon, it is far more than a cafe....! The five of us had a super meal and there is nothing I could fault.
The service was wonderful, food was delicious and priced fairly. Looking forward to going back for the evening menu or brunch. Hooray, somewhere good and local at last. Best of luck Union!
Union Cafe recently opened in the property that was previously Kielys, and everyone in Mount Merrion was very excited for it! I went for brunch which was an overall pleasant experience. I had the rotisserie chicken which was tasty and the staff were all friendly, but maybe a bit inexperienced, but I'm sure this will get better with time. I think the wine is a bit expensive which may affect Union's success. Overall, nice food and nice staff. Lovely decor too.
