I came here on recommendation by a friend, who also loved it. I was greeted warmly by the staff and was treated to the best pancakes of my life. The service was very quick, the food delicious, and the staff couldn't do enough for me �
When you are traveling obviously saving money is a small concern. Also eating good meals while traveling is also important. Well look no further. I feel blessed one of the employees Eileen came outside to great us when we were looking over the menu board. Thank God she did. My friend Scott and I have only been in Dublin for 2 days but have eaten here 3 times. The staff is friendly...funny...knowledgeable and courtious. I more than highly recommend this place by only saying this. If I lived in Dublin, as a server of 24 yrs...I would be happy to promote and work at Metro Cafe. Continued success. Ian P Jay

Coffee was alright, cake was decent but the service (specifically our waitress, Amber) was amazing!
Not a bad place to stop when you need a quick rest and bite to eat.

Grafton Caddesinin yan sokağına tesadüfen girip bulduğumuz kafede hem bize bakan garson çok neşeli ve iyi tavsiyelerde bulundu, hem de mekanın sahibi olan adam bizimle gelip sohbet etti. Küçük ama şeker dediğimiz o yerlerden!
Arkadaşımın yediği Sezar salata çok başarılıydı, ben size şarap ve peynir tabağı tercihi ile kendimce en doğru ve lezzetli kararı vermiştim.
Fiyatları makul olmasının yanısıra ortamıda turistik olmamasından dolayı çok keyifliydi.

Dublin's Metro Cafe has been a fixture on South William Street since 1996. This was my first visit, lured in by the all day brunch menu. It was very busy, yet not chaotically hectic. The friendly staff were quick to acknowledge me, offering a seat and menu until a table was free. Once seated I was served quickly and my coffee came promptly. I had the Mighty Metro: sausages, bacon, egg, relish, toast etc. Simple and done well, which is comforting in a market where "brunch" is often transformed into something unnecessarily complicated or exotic. There is a relaxed bistro style to Metro and I would forward to returning.
Really love this spot for a quiet lunch! Very good value and always pretty generous portions! Love their chicken Caesar salad! Regularly pop in to grab a hot chocolate and pastry! Staff are always great too! Would recommend for a quick quiet lunch around town!
Went here yesterday for brunch and the food was lovely! I got pancakes with a side of bacon and I was really satisfied by it! The staff were really nice aswell. One of my friends wasn't happy with what she got, she got granola and it was so burnt she couldn't even eat it, but my other friend was happy. Overall a good experience!
On an uncharacteristically warm day in late October I was meeting some friends for lunch at Metro Cafe. I love South William Street but I'd never been here before (for shame!) When we arrived it was jam packed inside and out but the staff went to task making sure we got the next available table.
I was in the mood for something sweet so I had the homemade buttermilk pancakes and they were seriously delicious. I got a latte as well which was very good; unfortunately it was long gone before the food was served but given how busy they were it wasn't something to dwell on.
One of my friends ordered the Mighty Metro breakfast and I had a smidgen of food envy so will definitely be back to give that a try.
Metro Cafe has been a fixture of South William Street since the mid 90s but it's a while since I popped in. Back in the day, my friend worked here and it was a regular haunt for a post pub hot chocolate (as odd as that sounds). It stayed open really late but today we went for brunch and found the place bustling with a steady stream of customers. The coffee is good - very good - and my scrambled eggs on sourdough toast were appealingly presented if a little bland. Himself had the Mighty Metro breakfast and the sausages were mighty indeed. Our waiter was a tad inattentive but there was another lady helping to serve our table and she was excellent. We weren't blown away but will be back because there are pancakes on the menu and well, pancakes.
One of my favourite cafes in Dublin. Really good cakes and a great all day brunch with pancakes. Good value and a great people watching spot. Grab and outdoor seat and watch the world go by! The apple and blueberry crumble is so good too. Get them to serve it warm with cream and drizzled with raspberry sauce. Enjoy!
Ahh I can't believe I forgot to take a photo! Such a great brunch I just laaav when places have my 2 fav things-eggs+granola. My mate G Mac and I both got scrambled eggs on sourdough toast with grilled cherry tomatoes and BALLYMALOE RELISH!! I love Ballymaloe but i never thought to put it with eggs-huge life changer. Then we got the breakfast booster to share ( natural yogurt,strawberries,blueberries,dried cranberries, honey + their home made granola bar) MY GAD it was so fab. These two amazing things plus a soya latte=ridiculous happiness. I can't fault this place - great company + great food + service.
Popped in here last week for a quick bite mid shopping spree. Had the BLT with an apple juice. Couldn't fault the BLT. It was pretty perfect. Felt a bit ripped off spending 2.75 for a small glass of apple juice. Would have expected a bottle for that price. Clearly just came out of a carton. Service was grand. Price came to 10.00 euro flat.
Good for a quick bite. Would pop in again for that reason.

It’s been a long time I wanted to add Brunch places to the blog, as I’m sure I am not the only one who does brunch every weekend as a religion. I have never seen something like this in other city like for example Madrid, my hometown. In Madrid or you have breakfast or you have lunch but something that substitutes both is not in our mid set. I guess it is a matter of meal hours.
I want to start the session with the Metro Cafe, which reminds me to the typical cozy coffee place you can find in your local neighborhood. A place where families have been going for decades as a weekend tradition. The only difference is that Metro Cafe is in the Middle of Dublin (South William Street) so it belongs to the creative quarter. Even if close to the touristy areas you won’t find many lost tourist having brunch here, but people who live around and come often, as myself. Another good thing is that it is one of the places that opens the earliest, even in the weekends when sometimes it’s difficult to find a decent place for breakfast/brunch even at 10am.
Metro Cafe is also the place for bacon lovers. You can find bacon in almost every dish! maybe not the healthiest of the options but definitely a place to go for a traditional Brunch with different type of eggs and sausages. One of their specialties are the filled croissants with bacon (again), ham, cheese etc… from my point of view the best of the combinations between sweet and sour.
If feeling like having a strong brunch that will give you enough energy for a shopping day, or if you want to enjoy a couple of hours for yourself while reading a book, this is definitely the place to be.

I finally got to experience Metro Café after walking past it a hundred times and hearing about how savage it is a thousand times from various friends. I wasn't planning on eating and found the mocha a bit gritty and cloying, so it definitely won't be rivalling my favourite coffee shop. I'll definitely be back for food, however, because Sorcha's younger sister (fussy eater) wasn't a fan of her meal so I gladly helped her out with the bangers and mash I had heard such rave reviews of from Sorcha. Absolutely delicious and filling as well. Simon had a chorizo stew thing which was also delicious and really flavorful, just the right level of spice. The prices are fair enough for the location and they have about as much outdoor seating as they do indoor, with a shelter out the front year-round so it's always a reliable smoker's haven to sit in and peer out at the people passing by.
All the food in here is class. Eaten here many the time. The staff are extremely nice and the food is better. Anything I've ever had from the menu is a 5/5. Bangers and mash are a number 1 though. Everyone should try it at least once
Nachos were nice, not the best I've ever had but they were cheap and cheerful and did for a nice quick snack while shopping, nice atmosphere in cafe also, and staff were lovely!
Whenever I'm in town trying to find a place to eat, I nearly always end up at Metro cafe. There is two main reasons I love Metro Cafe, first of all the staff are without a doubt the nicest people I have ever met, always helpful and friendly, and second of all, the bangers and mash is TO DIE FOR! The ultimate hangover cure! Love, love, love this place!
Only had a glass of wine here the other day but need to go back to try the food! The brownie was exeptionally tasty and the vibe of the place was just really nice! Especially on a nice warm day . Staff super friendly and the wine was super chilled!

On the occasion of this Sunday AM excursion into the city for yet more #MarRef work, I was behooved to wander into Metro Cafe and eat my future baby's weight in eggs. I was NOT disappointed.
The service is brusque, polite and decidedly American-hipster-meets-Irish-Cub.
The eggs are absolute perfection. A mass yellow glob of piping goodness.
Butter arrives promptly when asked, and the Ballymaloe relish is like a thousand rural fairies delicately sprinkling their beauty across your tongue.
As of writing, there've been 8 Michael Jackson songs played over the P.A. - Etta? Ella? Estelle? Am I reaching for the stars here? Didn't think so.
Love this place! It's so handy in town and everything is great! I've had the metro breakfast and it was unreal, the nachos which were also fab (if a bit of a humongous serving) and the bangers and mash which is one of my fave dinners. So lovely with loaaaads of gravy ❤️ deffo check it out, it has great people watching seats as well on a sunny day as well as a covered up bit for if it's drizzly but you want to sit outside and have a smoke. Really reasonably priced too.
I love this place! Really nice staff and atmosphere! I'd recommend sitting outside and availing of a blanket so you can people watch! The food and coffee is good... Sometimes I think the food is slightly over priced for what you get but definitely worth it for over all experience.
After trying the Corned Beef Hash at the Metro Cafe its going to be hard for me to order anything else when I come back. This is one of the dishes that I really miss from living in the States so it was a welcome surprise to see it on the menu here as it's not that popular in Dublin yet.
