Here in Dublin to study for a while, and the group supervisor suggested this place based on the recommendations of one local college staff member.. I'm so glad we came here! The restaurant is cozy, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is amazing. I had the mixed meat box (pulled pork, brisket, and chicken) with potato salad and slaw. The pulled pork was fantastic, the chicken was so tender that it fell right off the bone, and the brisket.. best piece of beef I've ever had in a restaurant. Ever. And I'm not kidding. It was fantastic... The slaw was great, and not quite what I expected it to be in the best possible way. The potato salad though too, was delicious - and it had ham or bacon in it, to my surprise. Can't go wrong with that! Definitely a great place to go for meat and bbq lovers.
First time visitor but I will definitely be back! The food was delicious and the portion sizes were huge! Great value altogether. Really cool atmosphere in the place as well. 10/10 - would recommend!
Was there for the first time last night..and really all I can say is yum! Service was very fast and friendly. There was minor confusion over the menu..but that's only because the waiter (once he realised we were hungry devils) explained an alternative option that give us more meat for better value.
The sides are absolutely yummy..giving the coleslaw a special mention!
All the meat was beautifully cooked, and had their own individual seasoning so the everything tasted different (been places where it's hard to differentiate as the marinades are all the same on all meat). All in a huge thumbs up and we'll definitely be travelling to Dublin to eat here again!
Loved sister restaurant Thunder Cut and here did not disappoint. Once again food so unusual and tasty (maybe just too much bone in chicken), staff super friendly. Well done awesome owners and staff!
I ate here with my family yesterday and It was really delicious. The meat is melt in the mouth. The pickles and sides are also delicious and compliment the meat perfectly. Our waiter was very attentive and lovely. It's really good value for money. I would highly recommend.
Went in with my boyfriend and we love trying new places but defiantly one of the best one so far food came out quick enough the portions are huge and food was simple but amazing and really good ice tea
This place is epic. The burgers take a bit longer than everything else but so worth it
What can I say but the best meal I have had on my stay in Dublin.. we were staying at the Smithfield hotel walked by and the smell was out of this world... great service friendly and no rush to get you out....
Night out with the boys & everything was super cool. Awesome food, mixed meat board to share is highly recommend. Great service & vide about the place...

Atendimento 5 estrelas, tudo perfeito.
Ideal para uma refeição antes de visitar a destilaria da Jameson que fica ao lado, alias o whiskey salva vidas depois disto.
I have been here twice and it did not disappoint me even for the second time around. Pulled pork is really heavenly. It is flavored well and very tender. Same goes with their beef. The charred flavor made it to the next level of goodness. Fries is really crispy and just delish. Coleslaw is as as good as the whole box. I recommend this place especially their lunch menu. For a tenner, you will be able to buy a good meal with loads and loads of flavor and will be able to appreciate a pretty good value for money. 4.0 for ambience. 5.0 for food and value for money. Overall, an honest 4.5 for My Meat Wagon. 👍🏻
The wife and I went here on a Friday after work. The staff are very friendly. I had one problem where my the glass provided to me had a lipstick stain from a previous customer. This is a great place to chill with the folks, in it's laid back atmosphere. We bought bought a meat box (mine was pulled pork)The food portion was large and tasty. Though my favourite part of the meal was the sausage side. We would be back
Good spot, food is tops and big portion sizes😅 funky theme and it's very relaxing, smaller then what I expected 🙂 I got the chicken on a board with fries, the only thing was that they don't have much sides to choose from
Have always had a great time here - basic but great every time probably the only place to hit the nail when it comes to BBQ nice range of beers to compliment the food!!
Travelling from Australia and this was the perfect place to have dinner on my first night here. I had the mixed meat in a box - beef was the highlight, chicken slightly dry and pork was good. Service was super friendly. Well priced for the amount of food you get!! Come here if: you need some food in your belly quick stat, you've prepped your second stomach for dessert (which was excellent!) or if you're in need of some good vibes.
Went here for lunch with my partner. This is my second time going here and have to say I wasn't disappointed second time round. The service is really quick and the food is excellent. I went for the pig a box with baked beans and slaw as my sides. The pulled pork was excellent and melt in the mouth. My partner went for the mixed box and she raved about how tender the chicken was.
Definitely will be dropping in again. Great spot to go to with a work crowd if your grabbing some food before heading for few drinks. Nice selection of craft beers
This is a tiny restaurant and if you aren't paying attention, you'll miss it! It's tucked away in a corner but the food packs a good punch. I have a food allergy (no gluten) and they were completely accommodating. The meat was very flavorful (and a tad salty but we were still very happy) and our children loved the mini shopping cart that their french fries were in. We sat outside and enjoyed the people watching; I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Went to "My Meat Wagon" have dinner on the first day of my Dublin's trip. I was starving and entered in this restaurante by the way it looked and smelled from the outside. Couldn't be happier with my choice! The best meat i've ever eat in my life!
If i ever back to this city, surely this will be also the first place to eat!
I was here twice and loved it both times its your typical BBQ joint there's no airs or graces about this place. It's quite hipster in that the food is served on boards and in pots and your chips come in a little trolley which I loved! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anybody
On a cold rainy day in Dublin visiting Kilmainham Gaol, let's just say my friends were pretty stoked that I managed to quickly dig up this gem on the Zomato app! This dimly lit hipster smoke house was exactly what our group of hungry travelers needed. Some of us ordered the mixed meat plate with sides, and a couple went for the bun option. Fools! The plate was clearly the winner and they admitted defeat when they realized theirs was not as good 😂 and had serious food FOMO. The pork belly was the star as usual, and the onion rings of course! The corn was a nice touch too, but the beans were redundant. We didn't quite manage to conquer the meat mountain but we gave it a good nudge! The craft beer selection was also awesome as we had a few craft beer nuts in our group, the brew dog punk IPA went down a treat! If I lived in Dublin I'd go back! Delicious!!
A quirky hipster joint set just off Smithfield Square- crates, craft beers, exposed bulbs, posters and, as the name suggests, an impressive selection of barbeque meats.
The service was good, the food arrived quickly and was tasty. It is what it is, and it does it well.
The pickled veg garnish was a bit odd, and be warned- even the mash has meat in it.
Good BBQ place, Texas style! For meat lovers, specially beef :)
I've been here several times but always got the cow in a box which is good brisket but not great! Also, I've been tasting other meats, namely the bird, pork and so! Definitely this is a beef place in my opinion.
Finally, got the cow on the board which comes with the brisket but also with the rib. I must say that amazed me and took this to another level. The rib is definitely the best thing I've tasted here. Juicy, smoked, crunchy but tender, and with plenty of flavour! I'll definitely recommend it...
There is also a choice of two sides. All of them are ok, none of them great, but who cares!? I'm going there for the brisket and specially for the rib!!!! :)
For meat lovers, but not for the enthusiasts!
I tried My Meat Wagon a couple of times before. I always go for the box meal, and I always found the meat good, but not great, well seasoned and with nice flavor but a little bit on the dry side. The sides and the atmosphere are lovely. Today I went...
If you're hungry here is the place to go. We shared the burger and the ribs for main course, it was absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are ginormous. Couldn't believe the value for money. I would definitely recommend to try the beans as a side, the nicest I've ever tasted. 10/10
Visited here for a late lunch. The location is not a place I am very often so jumped at the opportunity to go here when I was in the area. I got the ribs, fries and corn on cob. The ribs and fries were unreal. I didn't enjoy the corn and only got it because I didn't like any of the other sides. If I was to go again I would just get two sides of fries.
I literally can't get enough of this place!
Meat Lovers paradise :) I have tried the mixed meat board but unless you are literally starved it is a LOT of food for one person to get through. The pulled pork, brisket and sausage is amazing and would definitely recommend the trip to Smithfield for MMW goodness
Had the beef burger with fries here on Sunday. Was really nice. Lovely place and decent service. Would definitely recommend if you're in the neighbourhood
Incredible food. Been to Texas and by far this is as closest you'll get to amazing authentic Texan BBQ. Also great value for the food in both quantity and quality
My family and two of my friends went for a meal there last weekend, the restaurant is lovely and the food is amazing! Great portions and just really lovely food ! There was only one thing that i feel needs to be looked at there is no kids menu I had both my kids with me age 8 and 3 , it wasn't so bad for the 3 year old as I gave her some of mine but my 8 year old would need her own meal and the portions a very large and obviously the price it's a lot to pay for an adult meal for an 8 year old. Don't get me wrong it wouldn't put me off going there it's still a great place but I think did would make all the difference.
This is a cool small restaurant in Smithfield. The staff were really nice and we were lucky that it was a nice day so we sat outside. I ordered the mixed meat and the portions were MASSIVE. Everything including the sides was really nice but I wasn't able to finish my meal. I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch as its a bit heavy but definitely worth a look for a big meat eater!
It was my second time in My Meat Wagon. The place is great with a different decoration. People are very friendly and the food is delicious. I tried the meat box with chicken and I loved it. After that I ordered the crumble that was so big that I couldn't finish. Ahahahah but it was great! I think it's a really nice place to go either friends to have dinner and drink some beers (they have plenty of options). I think it's a little bit expensive but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...or heavy!! ;)
Meat enthusiasts... Look no further. This is the place for you. The meat was exceptional as was the presentation. Slightly out of town in the Smithfield area but worth the travel nonetheless!
Smithfield Market Square (not too far from Jameson distillery & the Viewing Chimney tucked in beside the Lighthouse Cinema)
A lot of the debate about the best BBQ places in Dublin seems to centre around Bison Bar on Wellington Quay & Pitt Bros on South Great Georges St. I recently took a trip to My Meat Wagon and I can honestly say that it needs to top the poll.
The staff are friendly! I like that they take your order & pull up a seat like they're having a chat when doing so.
They've a decent craft beer menu to go with the food...
I'm not really a beer drinker so I chose the Craigie's cider. The drinks are served in mason jars with handles. I like the idea but it's another sign that the Irish like their American hollibops!!
We brought my fiancé's little brother with us. They chose to share a mixed meat board to try everything My Meat Wagon as to offer... Brisket, beef ribs, pulled pork, chicken, sausage & more pork... You'd totally have epic meat sweats if you tackled it alone but I think they do a smaller version for one..
That also comes with sides including onion rings, mashed potato, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob and chips...
And I chose the cow in bread with a side of sausage.. The brisket was amazing. It comes with an onion ring and carmelizwd onions... I poured some of their bbq sauce onto the tray so I could use that as a dip. Bloody gorgeous!
There's some carrot and cauliflower on each tray... The carrots were quite nice dipped in the BBQ sauce!!
To top it off I love the fact that they give you Stinger bars when you get your bill.
Really really enjoyed our to My Meat Wagon. If you want great BBQ take a trip out of the city centre and go here! :)
This is a cool and hipstery little place located in Smithfield right across from the lighthouse cinema which is a good location for me as I like to go there every now and then. The food was delicious - tasty and beautifully cooked, I went with a group and tried a few different things and it was all very nice. I would give it a bother go that's for sure. Nice beer selection too. I can see why it has so many good reviews.. Defo for meat lovers as the name suggests.
Right around the corner from my hotel is this cheap eat tucked in a corner. Friendly staff and awesome food. I got the pug in a box, with sausage and mash potatoes. The sausages are melt in your mouth good, and the potatoes are not out of the box. The BBQ pork has a nice sauce, and they tuck in a few veggies in the corner of your box. Big meal for budget price in Dublin.
I've been told many great things about this restaurant and every last one was right!!! I went here with a group of friends and we all had a great meal. I had the pulled pork burger with chips which was amazing. I shared my friends mixed meat board which was also really good. All of the meat is so tasty and make sure to try the beans because they
are to die for. They even have meat mixed in them! If you haven't tried it yet then your missing out!
I got the sausage in bread with chips and an extra side of beans. Cannot fault the meal, was so good! Big portion size as well. Got the lemonade as well which was very nice. Would highly recommend and I will be back!
After hearing a bi-zillion good reports on My Meat Wagon I finally got the chance to try it out for myself last night. I resisted the urge to order the gigantic mixed meat board and opted for the cow in a box which is brisket served with two sides. I went for corn and fries. I'm not going to lie, the brisket was a bit dry for my liking but everything else (especially the fries) hit the nail on the head. My friends ordered the sausages as one of their sides - they were very very tasty (tasted kinda like chorizo) and I will definitely be ordering them when I return for round two.
My friend also got the banoffee which was served in a jar - keeping it hipster! It was yummy.
Despite my dry brisket I will definitely be returning to MMW - next time though I'm trying the burger!
I spent 3 months in Texas – home of some of the best BBQ – but My Meat Wagon is certainly a strong contender for one of the tastiest I've had. Really good portion sizes and plenty to choose from. Pulled pork and beans were particularly good. Hip interior too.
A lot of food for decent prices especially the lunch deal.
Good flavoursome food, and their sauces are my favourite out of many bbq places around the city.
Great choice of sides, friendly staff, lemonade is delicious!!!!
I finally got around to trying out My Meat Wagon curtesy of Zomato. After hearing lots of good things I was really looking forward to it.
The portions were huge and the staff was very friendly. I ordered the bird in the box with the two sides which would be so handy for a takeout lunch but for eating in a restaurant I would of preferred to have the sides separate, in future I would get the meat on a board!!
Living on the South Side, it is not necessarily a place I would make the effort of going to again, with so many BBQ type restaurants closeby, but if I happened to be around the Smithfield area I would definitely pop in again!!
Lots and lots of food for a very good price! Slow cooked meat that offer restaurant quality food for takeaway until 10.30.
I got the pulled pork for my first time here and it was fantastic. Really juicy and full of flavour.
For my sides I got the mash and beans - again, very generous amounts of each. My girlfriend got the chips which looked fantastic. I'll definitely be back here again to sample more of the menu
Stopped in here quickly to get a task away box of food as it was one of the only options open late on a Monday night (opens until half 10).
I ordered the chicken box with chips and beans and my boyfriend got the pulled pork box with mash and beans- first things first the portions are HUGE! Incredible value for money, I think it was 23 for both our meals and we didn't finish them! My chicken was beautifully marinated and succulent and the chips and beans were amazing- I think my boyfriend was a little sad he didn't get the chips instead 😂
Really relaxed meat house diner vibe in this place with plenty of people relaxing with a beer even on a Monday night! Will definitely be back to sit in to try one of their burgers and lemonade!
I was a little intimidated coming here as I am not a big meat lover.....however I was very pleasantly surprised! The place is quirky, I loved the interior, and the staff were super friendly. I had the bird box which was more than enough. The chicken was lovely and moist and the sides of fries and beans were perfectly tasty, good selection of beers too. Ideal casual dining
I have been to My Meat Wagon at least three times now. I usually get a board to myself (insane I know) so this time I opted for a Bird Box with sausage (can I get meat with a side of meat, please? lol) and beans (which also consisted of meat pieces). This was more than enough and I'm not sure why I ever chose the board as its clearly far too much food for one person. There was a miscommunication in the kitchen and I was given chips instead of beans so they brought out the beans quickly and left me the chips as compensation. Every time I have been there they have either gotten someones order wrong or brought the wrong food to our table. They've been open a year now so I don't understand how they're still consistently making simple errors. Obviously a communication issue between waiting staff and the kitchen.
Regardless, it doesn't turn me off the venue. The food is that good, its casual dining and the staff are very friendly. Love it!
I went to My Meat Wagon for the first time this weekend after hearing great things about the place. There were 2 of us eating, so we shared a mixed meat board which comes with 2 sides and at the recommendation of the staff we got 2 additional sides. On the board there was half a chicken, pulled pork and brisket and for sides we had fries, mash, corn and sausages. I have to say that the fries were a winner for me, so incredibly tasty. Also the chicken and pulled pork were great (although I wish we got more pulled pork - the portion was quite small). The brisket was a little dry for me and the sausages were not like the sausages I am used to. The texture was bizarre so not sure what they were made of. The meal also comes with one onion ring. I wish these were an option for sides as we would have liked more. All in all the food was good and there was more than enough for the 2 of us. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to making a decision. If you're a fan of meat, this is definitely a place you should try.
Went for the first time last week and it definitely won't be the last. The food was fantastic and portion sizes huge. Service was also great. Would definitely recommend
My Meat Wagon has a super cool decor. Boxes of fresh lemons and limes, a little toy mouse hiding in the wall, it's all very fun. The staff are very friendly too. Why did it get a 3.5? Cause Pitt bros got a 4 and I preferred Pitt bros. We got salt lick lemonade and it was great. I however do think I ordered badly. I got a chicken box. I wasn't expecting my chips to be underneath my chicken, in a very small box. They were kinda greasy as a result, and as I began to dissect my chicken there was no spare space for the bones, meaning they started to mingle with my chips. The chicken was delicious tho. My bf got a board, much easier to eat, plenty of space and well presented, but again, lots of grease. It was fine, but I won't be rushing back. Major highlight was the stingers and refreshers given with the bill 😍
Lunch was simple and tasty. So many places get it wrong when cooking a burger but My Meat Wagon have it spot on. The surrounds are comfortable enough and in my mind it was good value at €11 for burger, fries and a coke. I left feeling full and I’d eat it again so that is always a good sign.
This place is for the ultimate carnivores who want great, big pieces of well cooked meat straight from the BBQ and all accompanied by many of your favourite southern American sides. The music and the feel of the restaurant made the food even more enjoyable. Would highly recommend as a better alternative to many other BBQ joints in Dublin. And it is right on the Luas stop as well. I will definitely be going back.
What a fab little spot. Funky vibes. Great menu..a meat lovers heaven. We all had a mixed board. Huge portions. Genuinely had the meat sweats after. The meat is wonderfully tender, juicy and delicious 😋. The sides are just as nice. .mash and slaw. Everyone in this place was having a good time. Including staff members nodding to the beat of the tunes..needs to get a licence for some good cocktails...but the beer was good too. Decor rough and rustic...couldn't see it any other way. Great little spot.
Zomato kindly gave me a voucher for My Meat Wagon so I went along with 3 friends to try it out. We were impressed. It has a very hipster feel about it. We liked the general layout of it and the music was funky. The menu is simple but effective. All of the meat was very tasty. The chicken especially as it just fell off the bone 🍗. We tried the bird in a box, the bird on bread & cow on a board. The sides we ordered were fries, sausages& beans. We all left happy with just a few small complaints. Beans as a side when mixed with the chips and meat left the meal a bit soggy. Also the cider (Craigies) I'm told is tasteless. The last complaint is that there was a wheel missing off the chip trolley 😂 These small things would definitely not deter us from paying My Meat Wagon another visit.
Amazing (hipster) place, top choice if you are a meat-lover. Meat mix board is my favourite! Staff is amazing and always smiling! Highly recommended for an informal and fun dinner out!
I work around the corner from here so been here on a number of occasions. If you're a meat eater this is your kind of thing. I'm not particularly into meat so whenever I've been here ive got the chicken with baked beans and corn on the cob. It's always been consistently good.
This place always seems busy and the atmosphere is great. It's fun and casual dining, a great place to go with a group!
Visited this place last week. It was a nice evening so we sat outside which was lovely. They also provide big blankets for you if you get cold. This groovy restaurant is located in a part of town I wasn't familiar with but delighted I got to see it. Beautiful food and excellent service. Really great atmosphere with a good buzz. We had the duck and the mix meat dish (brisket, pulled pork and chicken). Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were MASSIVE. Fries, slaw, sausage and mash were our sides - fries were the winners here - so delicious. Overall great experience for a very reasonable €34.90 for 2. Highly recommended for lunch or casual dinner.
We had heard about this place from a number of different friends who had said if you like Pitt Bros you will love this place!!! I have to say I thought it far surpassed Pitt Bros! I had the baby back ribs which were the special of the day and my goodness the meat was insanely good! You didn't even need a knife to pull the ribs off and the meat literally melted in my mouth! Most succulent pork I think I've tasted in Dublin! I absolutely loved the presentation with the basting brush and the chips in the miniature shopping trolley!!! My boyfriend had the pork on a board which was equally as tasty!!! The pork belly and cracklings were full of tasty flavours! We polished it off with a bottle of pale ale and red ale and took what we didn't eat home in a doggy bag for later!! Will definitely be recommending this dinky little spot to my friends! 👌
Two of us ate here on Friday. We both got the mixed meat, I got the box and my husband got the board. Massive portions of meat, which were all very tasty. We tried every side between us and they were all nice, though I'm not sure there needs to be meat in the mash and the beans. Definitely go here hungry.
Meat lover's heaven. We ordered the tasting board where you can try all type of meat cuts and all the sides. €19,99 per person really good value, big portions we weren't able to finish. Pork belly and sausages my favourites meats and the mash the best side, it was really tasty. Very friendly staff.

My Meat Wagon has been open for business since early July 2014 so for some of you reading this review it may not be new news that Smithfield in Dublin 7 got itself its own taste of American style BBQ. Set up and run by two childhood friends Donal and Cian, who set out across the good ol U S of A in the summer of 2013 to do some finger lickin research before they ventured forth, back to Irish soil to bring home all they learnt, My Meat Wagon is a very welcome addition to the foodie scene, particularly for those who love BBQ and meat. (that was a long sentence wasn’t it?)
As far as barbecue goes in Dublin, nothing compares to My Meat Wagon. Pitt Bros, Bison, Smokin Bones, none of these can hold a candle to this place. The atmosphere is dark and cosy, with big cubicle tables that could seat parties of 8. Very comfortable place to be. The staff were great too. I had to cancel and rebook a couple of times and each time the guys there were so friendly about it.
The party that I was with all got their biggest meat platter which included a quarter chicken, beef rib, pulled pork, brisket. The food is nothing short of phenomenal, with the beef rib really being the star of the show. The food is unpretentious, plentiful, and delicious. You really couldn't ask for more.
We went for a hangover breakfast/lunch and this done exactly the job required. The menu required a lot of explaining, I don't think it's as simple as they think it is but the food was great. We got both the beef and the pork boards and shared. The beef was a little dry and the rib hard work. The pork was excellent though, the pork belly was the best I've had in a long time. The sides were excellent, especially the chorizo sausages, never had anything like them. The presentation was big and the staff friendly. Would recommend as long as you know what you're in for!
Great place and really cool atmosphere. The meat is cooked to perfection and falls off the bone. The staff are friendly and recognising first timers gave honest recommendations. Almost a family feel. Will definitely be back 😋
This place is great for casual relaxed dining with plenty of flavour and it won't cost you alot. I've only visited once and the place was packed to the rafters. I had the chicken in a box with slaw and mash. Less than €12 and you are pretty stuffed afterwards. I love bbq food, the menu is very small but they do it very well. No fuss, and the staff are very friendly. The "meat on a board" looked amazing, but as it was my first time I was being careful. ??Will definitely be back again.
All I can say is wear loose trousers as you winter be able to stop eating. The portion sizes are big a d the flavours bigger great spot to meet friends and relax. I will definitely come here again
A hidden treasure in Smithfield! 5 of us had grub here and food was fab!! I had burger with sausage on the side!! Very relaxed atmosphere, good music and great food!!
This is a great little spot in Smithfield. The food is yum and great value for money for what ya get. I went for chicken in a box with mash and fries. So tasty but the portion was a little too big for me, hated leaving delicious food after me. The deco is fun, like sitting in a barn which adds to overall theme of the place. Good for getting a bite before the cinema.
Went here for the first time today and I was a very full and happy customer leaving the place! Funky place with it's own niche, great tunes and service. I had the meat box with brisket and two sides consisting of mash and beans. Really recommend this place to all meat lovers out there!
Defo the best BBQ place in dublin, they're not the first to do the BBQ theme but they by far surpass all others around. The value for money also makes a huge difference. They offer more for cheaper than their competitors.
If your looking for a good meat meal this is the place to go , first time I went I had the mix meat board , mash and chips . Meat was cooked to perfection ,the service was fast and staff are also really friendly Conor Lavin
After reading so many good recommendations I decided to give it a try.
The place is located in Smithfield about 15 minutes from the city centre, it's not hard to find because it's right beside the Lighthouse cinema.
The atmosphere of the place is vibrant, I loved the decoration with kitsch utensils, all around, however, what I liked most was the food.
The meat was so tender and delivered on a board, you can order in a box as well, but we were four and we ordered two meat boards for two. It had chicken, pork and beef. So well presented. The side dishes were plenty, including fries, corn and mashed potato.
Let's just start by sating that My Meat Wagon is very fashionable. There are jute sacks, rough wooden planking, galvanised zinc sheets and suspended pallets. Despite all these design clichés, the overall effect here works to create a comfortable atmosphere with with low, warm lighting and original bluegrass music.
We both ordered the Meat on a Board with a mix of Cow, Pig and Bird. To be honest, I was a little perplexed why beef and pork get named, but the source of "Bird" remained a mystery. Each board has a main meat, accompanied by a selection of other cuts and two sides. BBQ chicken has often been a disappointment to me, left dry and dusty by the BBQ process, but here there was a darkly golden laminated skin with juicy meat underneath.
The Ole Hickory Texas smoker shipped over to sit at the heart of My Meat Wagon had been equally good to the soft, deliciously fatty beef rib, chorizo sausage and excellent pulled pork. Beef brisket, normally my go-to BBQ meat, was a little dry but tasted well. Sides were equally well executed with mash, fresh slaw and fries (served in a mini shopping trolley, perhaps a tribute to the River Liffey?).
Final thoughts: A very decent BBQ joint on Dublin's Northside.
Ate here on Sunday with my family. Food was delicious got the chicken on a board with corn on the cob and fries. Staff all very friendly and layout of place is really cool. The chips even come in a mini trolley. Would definitely go back!
